With 2-tier backup a local backup is made first, which will be synchronized to an off-site backup server afterwards. The local backup can be used for quick restores, and the off-site backup is always available in case of disaster recovery.

Data encryption is standard

Each backup client will be installed with its own encrypted password, which is stored only on the client itself. The data cannot be read without this password. The standard encryption level is 128-bits AES, but more powerful encryption standards are available as well. All client data will be transported and stored on the backup storage system in encrypted form.

Even though data encryption sufficiently guarantees the security of the data, standard SSL security is being used on the network layer.

The client software and the backend management console are protected with user name and password. All changes from every client are logged, making it very easy to audit.
